Making sugar cookies in the shape of a Pumpkin Pie Platter for Thanksgiving is just about as easy as making an actual pumpkin pie!
Gather round the table and let me show you how to make one of the easiest royal icing decorated sugar cookie platters you have ever seen.
CUTTERS: Pumpkin pie slice and So Very Thankful Cutter from Simply Renee Sweets
- COLORS YOU WILL NEED:
- White Icing – outline and flood
- Ivory Icing – outline and flood
- Pumpkin – outline and flood
- Light blue (wedgewood – americolor) – outline and flood
Step 1: Outline the crust of the pie in ivory outline icing.
Step 2: Fill the outlined crust with ivory flood icing.
Stop and allow your cookie to dry in front of a fan for 30-40 minutes before moving to the next section.
Step 3: Outline the pumpkin slice with orange pumpkin piping icing.
Step 4: Flood the pumpkin slice with orange flood icing.
Stop and allow your cookie to dry in front of a fan for 20-30 minutes before adding details in the next section.
Step 5: Using white piping icing and a number 16 tip add a dollop on the top of the pumpkin pie slice
SO VERY THANKFUL COOKIE
Step 1: Outline with white piping icing and fill with white flood icing.
Option to add airbrush plaid as I did here in the picture using Cookie Countess airbrush stencil
Step 2: Use Blue piping icing to letter on the cookie. I used the fill-in method here meaning on the downward strokes I did an outline then fill in the middle with blue flood icing
Now you have a beautiful sugar cookie platter that looks just like a perfect pumpkin pie, but you can bag up the cookies to let everyone take them home and enjoy them, or make them into a beautiful centerpiece that is great as a hostess gift for whoever is serving up Thanksgiving dinner this year!
