As you can imagine, since making cookies for 10 years I have quit the collection of cookie cutters. They are seriously addicting. There are so many fun designs to pick from with metal cutters to 3-D printed cutters. You want the cutters you pick to not only be ones you will use frequently but also ones that are versatile.
I narrowed it down and compiled a list of my top essential cutters for beginners. I have linked everything pictured above, except the two Kaleidacut plaque cutters, on my Amazon page.
Nesting Round Cutters
You will be amazed at how much you will use a round cutter. From logos to making flowers to stadium cookies. These nesting cutters are great since you get many size options plus these are double-sided so you get a straight edge or a scalloped edge. So versatile.
The cupcake cutter is not only great for birthdays but also turn it around to make a leprechaun.
The baby onesie is great for those baby shower events. You can also cut off the bottom of the onesie to make it a tshirt which is perfect for a jersey or sporting event.
Hearts on not only essential for Valentine’s Day but also great for wedding and anniversary cookies. Here are some of my favorite heart cutters.
I love the dress cutter for wedding and bridesmaid dresses. These are also perfect for the little princess parties.
Ice Cream Cone
I love the ice cream cutter because it can be used for so many things. You can obviously have a variety of ice cream flavors. You can turn it upside down to make an elf or boy with a party hat. One of my favs it the turkey face with an ice cream cutter.
The triangle is probably my very favorite cutter. It’s so versatile and you can make so many things with it. From a pizza, watermelon slice, candy corn, pumpkin pie…the options never end.
Stars are perfect for any patriotic holiday. They will also come in handy for gymnastics and sports themes.
I highly recommend getting at least 1 or 2 plaque cutters to use as a beginner. These are two of my favorite plaque cutters from one of my favorite shops Kaleidacuts. The Nancy and the Charlotte plaque cutters. These cutters are great to write out “Happy Birthday” or write a name or monogram.
